 Felipe J. Alvarez
President - RCN Metro Optical Networks
Felipe J. Alvarez is President of RCN Metro Optical Networks where he is responsible for all aspects of the business unit. Mr. Alvarez has over 20 years in telecommunications with companies such as NYNEX and Bell Atlantic and has a wide set of experiences ranging from engineering to marketing and sales. Prior to joining RCN, he was Chief Operating Officer of Con Edison Communications where he led the development and implementation of its network infrastructure, operations, and systems. Mr. Alvarez holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the City College of New York and an MBA from New York University.  James J. Capuano
Vice President - Engineering & Operations
James Capuano is Vice President of Operations for RCN Metro Optical Networks. He joined the company in March 1999 and has ensured the business delivers operational excellence to RCN Metro Optical Networks’ high profile customer base. In his current role, Mr. Capuano has responsibility for RCN Metro Optical Networks’ network control center, customer care, field operations, IS/IT, provisioning, change management, and quality assurance.
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Capuano held positions at MCI, the Department of Defense, and the U.S. Air Force/National Guard.
 Patrick Coughlin
Vice President - Sales
Patrick Coughlin is Vice President of Sales. Mr. Coughlin joined RCN Metro Optical Networks in October 1999 and has held positions of increasing responsibility within the Sales organization. In his current role, he has responsibility for attainment of revenue targets, customer relationship management, pricing, marketing communications, product management, new product development as well as market development.
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Coughlin held sales positions at Comlink, Teleport Communications Group (TCG), and US TeleCenters. Mr. Coughlin received a B.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
 Paul Eskildsen
Vice President & General Counsel
Paul Eskildsen is RCN Metro Optical Networks' Vice President and General Counsel. He is the chief legal officer for RCN Metro Optical Networks and also provides legal and transactional support for other RCN company initiatives. Prior to joining RCN, he was Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of MCI, where he led and managed MCI’s legal support for customer contracting, marketing, product development, network and technology law, procurement, government contracts, intellectual property, advertising, real estate and international law. He also played a leadership role in MCI’s M&A activities, including its merger with Verizon, and led MCI’s merger approval efforts at the Department of Justice and the EU. Paul joined MCI in 1988 after spending several years in private law practice at a large DC law firm, and worked at MCI in various positions of increasing responsibility for over 18 years. Paul is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and the University of Virginia School of Law.
